What is Irish tweed?
Tweed is a woollen fabric that is made from carded wool, thick and strong un-straightened fibres. Irish Tweed is warm and flexible but not as smooth or uniform as other yarns, it has a strong natural feeling to it. Irish Tweed is seen as a classic or unique item due to its high-quality pure wool consistency. Throughout the 1850-1900 period, tweed was very popular due to its warmth and breathability. To this day it is still a favourite for people all over the world.

Tweed was originally designed to keep the Irish hunters and town folk warm during outdoor sports, or general day to day life, the material is thick, hardwearing and warm, but at the same time breathable, so it is perfect for colder climates, fantastic for protection against rain, hail and snow.
The colours used in our Tweed Jackets are the same that have been used for decades, picking up the same colours as the Irish landscape, rich greens, blues, and greys that look fantastic when worn. It was this reason they were very popular for the traditional Irish hunters and fishermen, as they were able to blend into their surroundings.
These Irish Tweed items have been carefully crafted under the watchful eye of a Master Weaver, ensuring quality, and also ensuring that the traditional method of producing these garments remains alive.

Got my wedding suit from this shop. The staff is very friendly and professional, I was actually impressed. The suit is also perfect, I'll use it many times (I went for something that can be reused quite easily, not the wedding only kind). If you need to look sharp and all business-like, this is the place for you in Cork!
